Custom Photo Magnets
What size are the finished custom photo magnets?
Each magnet is approximately 5cm x 5 cm
Are the custom photo magnets good quality?
Yes - we take this seriously. We use a high quality print finish that does real justice to your photos, and the magnet itself is strong enough for everyday use. These aren't novelty items. They're made to be kept. Every order is checked before it goes out the door.
What surfaces do custom photo magnets stick to?
Any magnetic surface - which is more than just the fridge. Think coffee machines,
microwaves, office lockers, metal bookshelves, toolboxes, filing cabinets,
metal shelving. If it's magnetic, your memories can live there.
Do the custom photo magnets come in different shapes or sizes?
Currently all our magnets are 5cm x 5cm square. While not currently a core range on our website we can also produce 'flexible' photo magnets. If you have something specific in mind please get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

What sort of photos make good custom photo magnets?
Clear, well-lit, close up images work best. Modern smartphone photos are generally excellent and translate beautifully at 5cm. Things to avoid: very dark or blurry images,
heavy filters that alter colour, and screenshots of photos (always use the
original file where possible). If you're unsure about a photo, you are welcome to email us hello@memoriamagnetcompany.co.nz or upload it and leave a note at checkout and
we will check it before we print.
Can I use photos from Instagram, Facebook, or other social media to create my custom photo magnets?
Yes - as long as you have the right to use them. Download the original photo to
your device first, then upload from there. Screenshots tend to be lower quality, so always use the original file if you can find it.
Can I use old or scanned photos to create my custom photo magnets?
Yes - heritage and older photos make beautiful magnets and are some of our
favourites to work with. The quality of the print will depend on the quality of
the scan, so use the highest resolution scan you have. If you're working with
something precious and aren't sure, feel free to email us the photo first and

Are the photos I upload to make my custom photo magnets kept private and secure?
Yes. Your photos are used only to produce your order. We don't share, store, or use
them for any other purpose without your permission. Please see our Privacy
Policy for full details.
How does ordering work?
How do I order my custom photo magnets?
It's straightforward. Choose your set size on the product page and upload your photos. Add it to your cart and checkout straight from your phone or computer. Once your order has been recieved, we get to work and dispatch within 5 working days. You'll receive tracking details by email once it's on its way.
Can I order more custom photo magnets than the set sizes listed?
Absolutely - if you're after a larger number of magnets, just get in touch at
hello@memoriamagnetcompany.co.nz and we'll work something out for you.
How long will my order take?
We handcraft and dispatch every order within 5 working days. Once it's on its way, you'll receive an email with tracking details so you can follow it to your door. Check out our Shipping Policy for more information
Can I make changes to my order after placing it?
Get in touch as quickly as possible at hello@memoriamagnetcompany.co.nz - we'll do our best to accommodate changes however once we've started making your magnets, changes may not be possible.
What if I'm not happy with my order when it arrives?
We want you to love your magnets. If something isn't right, please get in touch as soon as your order arrives - email us at hello@memoriamagnetcompany.co.nz with a photo(s) and we'll make it right. Please see our refund policy for full details.
Do you share customer photos on social media?
Only if you've given us permission to - there's a tick box on the product page. We
love celebrating our customers' stories and sharing what people make, but we'll
never share your photos without your say-so. If you tick the box and later
change your mind, just let us know. Check out our privacy policy for more information
Shipping & Delivery
How much does shipping cost?
It is a $6.90 flat rate for standard NZ orders. This does not include wholesale or larger custom orders. Please see our shipping policy for full details.
How long does delivery take once dispatched?
Standard NZ delivery typically takes 2–5 business days once dispatched, depending on your location. Rural areas may take a little longer, as well as during busy seasons such as Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas etc. Please keep this in mind when placing your order.
You'll receive tracking details by email once we dispatch it so you can follow your order.
Do you ship outside New Zealand?
Not currently - we're shipping within New Zealand only at this stage. If you're
ordering a gift for someone overseas and need a workaround, get in touch and
we'll see what we can do.
Can I send an order directly to someone else as a gift?
Yes - just enter their address as the shipping address at checkout. Add our gift
wrapping option and a personal message, and we'll make sure it arrives looking
exactly like the thoughtful gift it is. No pricing or receipts included in the
parcel.
My order hasn't arrived - what should I do?
First check your tracking link (sent by email when your order was dispatched). If
it's been more than 7 business days and there's no update, email us at
hello@memoriamagnetcompany.co.nz and we'll look into it with you straight away.
Custom Photo Magnets as Gifts
Do you offer gift wrapping for my custom photo magnet order??
Yes - add our gift wrapping option to your cart and let us know the wording you'd
like on your card. We'll make sure it arrives beautifully presented, with no receipts inside the parcel. Because
the way a gift arrives is part of the gift.
Do you offer gift vouchers for custom photo magnet sets?
Unfortunately not at this stage - we have currently paused our Gift Vouchers. The NZ Government has recently changed the legislation regarding Gift Vouchers and we are taking time to understand what is required from us.
I'm buying these custom photo magnets as a gift but I'm not sure which photos to use - any advice?
Think about what photos you know exist of them - family milestones, a holiday you
were both on, their pets, their kids, a celebration you shared. Choose the ones
that would make them smile or tug on their heart strings when they see them on their fridge every day. Those are the right ones. If you're stuck between a couple of choices, get in touch and we can help you figure out which ones may print better than the others
Can I order custom photo magnets as party favours or group gifts?
Absolutely - our magnets make wonderful party favours, particularly for milestone birthdays, hens parties, and end-of-season sports events. If you're ordering a larger quantity, get in touch first and we'll make sure we can accommodate your
timeline and numbers, and discuss best pricing options
Will pricing or receipts be included in a custom photo magnet gift order?
No - we never include pricing or receipts inside a parcel if you have selected the Gift Wrapping option. Your order confirmation and tracking details are only sent to the email address entered on the check out page.

The Magical Add-on
What does the Magical Add-on actually do to my custom photo magnets?
It adds a hidden NFC chip to your magnet. When you tap the magnet with your phone, it links to whatever URL you choose - a song, a video, a voice note, a shared photo album, a website. Tap your mum's magnet and hear the song she loves. Tap a travel magnet and watch the video from that festival. It's optional, but once people discover it, they tend to want it on everything.
What phones does the Magical Add on work with?
It works with most modern smartphones - iPhone 7 and later, and Android devices
with NFC capability. To check if your Android phone has NFC, go to Settings and search for NFC - if it's there, it'll work.
Why is my custom photo magnet with the magical add-on not scanning?
We quality check all NFC enabled magnets are working before we send them out so here are a few quick things to check to start with:
- Make sure NFC is turned on in your phone’s settings.
Tap the magnet near the top/back of your phone, where the NFC sensor is usually located (it varies by model).
Hold your phone steady for a moment—some phones take a few seconds to read the tag.
If you’re using an iPhone, NFC usually only works when the screen is on and unlocked. - Still no luck? Try a different phone (most newer models support NFC). If it works on another phone, your device might not be compatible. Remove your phone cover case - some thicker covers mean that your phone has a hard time reading the NFC chip.

I have a Samsung A series phone and I'm having trouble scanning my magnet - help!
We have discovered that there is a quirk with some Samsung Android A-series phones when attempting to open a Spotify web link via NFC. In this case, Spotify is being launched, but the deep-link intent is being stripped on the device for some reason so the phone doesn’t always pass the album information through to Spotify. This is an issue with the phone itself, not the magnet.
If this is happening to you please try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Check NFC is correctly enabled
Go to Settings → Connections→Turn NFC and contactless payments 'ON'
2. Set Spotify as the default app for Spotify links
Go to Settings → Apps → Spotify →Tap 'Set as default'→Set 'Open supported links' to 'Always allow'
3. Disable battery optimisation for Spotify (This apparently can help prevent Spotify from “half-opening”)
Go to Settings → Apps → Spotify → Battery and Select 'Unrestricted'
After doing this, please close the NFC app and Spotify app (if you have them open), then lock and unlock your phone and tap the magnet again and it should work.
What kind of link can I use inside my custom photo magnet?
Anything with a publically available URL - a Spotify song, a YouTube video, a Google Drive voice recording, a shared photo album, a personal webpage, a family recipe. Please note if your link you provide requires a subscription to access, the person scanning the magnet will also require a subscription.
Do I need an app to be able to scan my custom photo magnet with the magical add-on inside?
No - NFC is built into compatible phones and works natively. No app download
required. Just tap your phone to the magnet and the link should open automatically.
How long does the link inside my custom photo magnet last?
The NFC chip is passive and will last for thousands of plays
Can I change the link after my custom photo magnet is made?
No. Once loaded and sealed inside your magnet the link cannot be updated. If you wish to have a different link embedded we recommend ordering a new magnet

What kinds of events can you make custom photo magnets at?
Milestone birthdays, corporate events, end-of-year functions, team retreats, hens parties, school events, community gatherings - essentially any event where you want your guests to leave with something meaningful and handmade. How does on-site magnet making work?
We bring the studio to you. Guests drop by the Memory Bar during your event,
choose a photo from their phone, and leave with a handcrafted magnet made on the day - a real keepsake from the occasion. It's a hands-on, personal

How far in advance do I need to book if I want Memoria Magnet Co. to do on-site magnet making at my event?
As early as possible - we have limited availability for events and dates fill up, particularly around the holiday season. Once you have a date in mind, get in touch and we'll let you know our availability
What do I need to provide for Memoria Magnet Co. to do on-site magnet making at my event?
In order for us to make magnets on site during your event we need a couple of things:
- A flat site that is at least 2m x 2m (indoors, although outdoors can be considered in discussion with you)
- Easy access to a power plug
- WiFi (extra charge if this is not provided)
On-site magnet making at Weddings
Do guests need to download anything to have custom photo magnets made at our wedding?
No - they simply scan your wedding's unique QR code and upload directly from their phone. It takes seconds and is simple enough that even Nanna will be able to use it.
Will guests actually engage with The Memory Bar if we book Memoria Magnet Co. for our wedding?
Yes. Christina actively guides the experience through the wedding - she doesn't just set up and step back. Her job is to make sure it flows naturally and that your guests actually engage with it
How many guests can Memoria Magnet Co. cater for at our wedding?
Around 125 guests comfortably within the Signature package. Get in touch if your guest list is larger and we'll find the right solution.
Can multiple people get a copy of the custom photo magnet if they're in the same photo?
If they want to - yes!
Do I need to do anything on the day if we hire Memoria Magnet Co to come to our wedding?
Nothing. Christina handles the entire experience from arrival to pack-down. You focus on your wedding.
Where do you travel to?
Memoria Magnet Co. is based in Plimmerton and covers the Wellington region and surrounds - generally within a 45 minute drive. Further travel is considered for the right event, so please don't hesitate to enquire even if you are further afield.
What do I need to provide for Memoria Magnet Co. to do on-site magnet making at our wedding?
In order for us to make magnets on site during your wedding we need a couple of things:
- A flat site that is at least 2m x 2m (indoors, although outdoors can be considered in discussion with you)
- Easy access to a power plug
- WiFi (extra charge if this is not provided)
- Contact details of your venue host - so that we can make sure we are all set before the day, and know who to contact on the day if there are any issues

How far in advance should I book if I want Memoria Magnet Co. to make magnets on-site during our wedding?
As early as possible. Because Christina personally runs every event, spaces are strictly limited - particularly for summer and peak season dates. We recommend enquiring at least 3-6 months in advance.
If it is less than that until your wedding, please still get in touch to see if your date is available.

What kinds of organisations can fundraise with Memoria Magnet Co.?
Schools, sports clubs, community
organisations - any group with a community around it. If you're not sure
whether it would work for yours, just ask. We're always happy to have a
conversation. Check out our fundraising page for more information.
What does it cost our organisation to get started with Memoria Magnet Co. fundraising?
Not a cent. There are no upfront costs and nothing to purchase or store or keep track of, and no money to collect.
You promote the fundraiser, your supporters order, and we do everything from there.
How much will we actually raise selling custom photo magnets as a fundraiser?
Your organisation earns $6–$12 per order, depending on the set size your supporters choose to buy - the larger the set, the more you earn. If 10 supporters order one set of 12 magnets each you would earn $120. Check out our Fundraising Page for more information.
We really don't have to do anything to sell custom photo magnets as a fundraiser - no forms to fill in, no money to collect?
Really. Orders are placed directly on our website through a customised link. Your
supporters pay us directly, choose their own photos, and we handle all the
making and delivery. Your job is just to promote the fundraiser and share the link.
How long does a custom photo magnet fundraiser run?
Most campaigns run for 2–3 weeks, but we'll help you choose a timeframe that suits your community and your calendar. Funds are transferred to your organisation's bank account after your campaign closes - we'll ask you to send us an invoice, which we pay promptly.
How do we promote our custom photo magnet fundraiser it to our community?
Most groups use email lists, team communications, social media, and newsletters.
Once you're booked in, we will send you a media kit with suggested wording ready to
copy and paste to try and make it as easy as possible.
